km: Au contraire, if M. Night Shyamalan makes a film in my backyard, maybe I can convert my lawn into a tourist spot and start charging for admission?

Sujatha: I wish I could do that..have a backyard rock garden, I mean. I was reading the NYT article on moss gardens and wondering which suburban homeowner could do anything like that..not that I particularly like the idea of sitting down on a moss lawn..but I am with you, gardens should be less fertilizer intensive, and less maintenance..

To heck with the moles, voles and lawns! I propose that every square foot of well sunned lawn ought to be torn out and converted into a rocks and moss garden or an organic vegetable patch. I’ve never understood the craze for all the green acres that require tons of fertilizer and mowing for maintenance.
Unfortunately, like all suburbanites, I am bound by restrictions in the township that require us to maintain these silly vistas of green that merely eat up the green from our wallets.
